Eén stad. Twee families.
Eén vete. Twee geliefden.
Eén gebouw. Oneindig veel mogelijkheden.

Een niet eerder vertelde stadslegende over de twee bekendste ondernemersfamilies van Den Haag. De van oorsprong Italiaanse familie achter ijssalon Florencia en de Scheveningse familie Simonis, van de bekende vishandels. Twee trotse families met passie voor hun vak, die lijnrecht tegenover elkaar staan. Het vuur laait op tijdens een familiefeest, als zoon Simonis en dochter Florencia oog in oog komen te staan. Een vonk slaat over. De jonge geliefden zetten een keten van gebeurtenissen in gang waardoor hun eigen levens én die van hun families op een onvoorstelbare manier uit balans worden gebracht.
IJS&VIS is een unieke locatietheater-ervaring, geïnspireerd op Romeo & Julia en de beide familiegeschiedenissen. We bezetten een compleet gebouw waar je vrij doorheen kunt lopen en je eigen route bepaalt, als in een droomwereld. Zoek je weg langs kleine kamertjes en smalle gangetjes, bakken vol ijs en tonnen vol paling en een dansvloer vol intriges. In IJS&VIS komen theater, live muziek en dans samen op een avond die je niet snel zult vergeten.
IJS&VIS is een coproductie van Firma MES en het Nationale Toneel met Korzo.
Andere partners zijn Theater aan het Spui, de Koninklijke Schouwburg en Rabarber.

IJS&VIS speelde in september en oktober 2016 exclusief in Den Haag. De voorstelling was een groot succes: bijna iedere avond waren we uitverkocht en vanwege de volle zalen hebben we twee weken extra gespeeld.

Yet it is a beautiful experience, because close to the dancers you feel the air they set in motion and you can smell the dust that they let up. Sometimes you are afraid that you are in the way, while at the same time you are always invited to be present at this story.
