reviews
¨...After the break follows the heart-piece: "Transfigured Night" by Wubkje Kuindersma to the music of Arnold Schoenberg. Here comes everything together again - the musicians sitting in the middle of the dancers, a choreography with strong narrative elements, the interplay of the ensemble. The declared aim of the Federal Youth Ballet is to bring the dance to the people. Succeeded!¨

¨...Elegantly it continues after the break with "Verklärte Nacht" by Wubkje Kuindersma. The enchanting Teresa Silva Dias, together with Kristian Lever and Ricardo Urbina Reyes, later expanded by Tilman Patzak, form a Menage-à-quatre in which attraction, devotion and rivalry are expressed expressively in all directions. Other choreographies, on the other hand, fall off in comparison.. ¨ (translated from german)

¨...The symphonic musicians played pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Maurice Ravel, Peter Tchaikovsky, but also Arnold Schönberg and Leonard Bernstein. The international ensemble passionately danced the choreographies of director John Neumeier, who founded the National Youth Ballet in 2011, Greg Blackmon, Patrick Eberts and Wubkje Kuindersma.
The latter, a native of Cameroon, guest choreographer at the National Youth Ballet, had come up with a particularly emotional piece, a symbiosis of dance and theater. Under the title "Transfigured Night" by the Austrian composer Arnold Schönberg (1874-1951), four of the eight dancers danced the 30-minute triangular relationship between a woman, her partner and her lover, from whom she expects a child. On stage with this piece sat a string sextet of the Bergische Symphoniker.
For this, the artists received applause storms, which increased after the last piece, the energetic and colourful overture Candide from "Amber Dances”, and tore the cheering audience with bravo shouts from their seats .. ¨ (translated from german)
